This week we have the amazing Katie who is an absolute super mum!
2 years ago she had identical twin girls who are just adorable, she did not expect getting pregnant again that it would be possible to have 2 more beautiful babies but she’s just welcome her fraternal boy and girl twins into the world!
Yes 2 sets of twins!!

I am so honoured that Katie has taken the time to let us all know a little more about her life when we all know ‘she has her hands full!’ 😉
So Katie when did you find out you were pregnant with multiples and did you have any idea before your scan?
With our first set my dating scan at 8 weeks, I didn’t really but possibly should have known, My hcg levels went from 768 to 37000 in 3 days from 2 seperate blood tests and my nephew who told me I was pregnant in the first place before I took a test told me there was two babies in there aswell.
With our second set no, I really didn’t think it was a possibility to have two sets. I always said growing up I was going to have twins.
How old are your children now?
2 years and 2 months and 9 weeks.
Do multiples run in your family?
No.
What is the best thing about having more than 1 baby at a time?
That they will be growing up with a best friend and watching the bond that they have. Plus another little person to love, who wouldn’t want that.

What sort of pram do you have? Why did you choose the one you have?
Mountain Buggy duet. I wanted a side by side pram and there wasn’t really a lot around that are side by side plus we had our capsules first so had to match those to a pram, options were limited.
How do you manage with more than one baby?
organisation and routine. I try to follow it daily. It’s what works for us. Take everyday as it comes you’ll have some good and some bad but tomorrow is a new day.

Are your babies identical or fraternal?
Both first set identical girls and second a B/G frat.
Were your babies naturally conceived?
Yes ( very blessed) I did have miscarriages before both pregnancies which my OB said that can play a part.
What are some of your top purchases for multiples?
Love to dream swaddles, a feeding pillow and a really good baby monitor.
How do you decide which baby to settle/feed/change if you’re alone?
Usually I feed them at the same time but if one is more unsettled than the other they get first dibs.

How do you tell your babies apart?
It sounds odd but I just know, from behind at times it’s a little harder with their hair. My tips for people who can’t tell my girls apart though is that Arlo has a rounded face where as charlees is longer and she’s a little taller.
Have you labeled your babies in any way to make sure you don’t get them mixed up?
No but while pregnant I did research the best ways to do this. Nail polish was the most common.
Do you have a set routine and if so are the babies all on the same routine?
Yes, I’m all about routine and have followed one since my first set were 4 weeks and have implemented it from birth with our 9 week olds.
Of a night we follow the 3 B’s bath, bottle and bed. After their bath they have a massage to calm them and once dressed are straight into their swaddles which lets them know it’s time for sleep, I also do this during the day for their sleeps. Our girls still follow the same routine, we’re just at the stage of taking the bottle and hopefully soon dummy away also so that has been a challenge with their night routine but we’re getting there.
We have some more families joining us over the weeks to share their multiple families so make sure you’re ready next Wednesday for the next part of our multiples mini series!
